Who am I?
Once I was a little boy in a country where the morning smells of grass were imprinted in a child’s memory, and the dew from that grass got on top of my short boots when I went fishing very early in the morning. The dew was unpleasantly invigorating, but the thirst to catch a big carp destroyed all obstacles and children’s fears. And when I was returning to my grandmother’s house with the crucians, I was waiting for baked malisniki with cherries, yes, precisely malisniki. I’m sure you understand how delicious they were.
As an adult, I wondered what my universe is made of, what my Country is, why Furmanka was called Furmanka.
Then a piece of the Soviet school, where everything was done for some imaginary greatness, and as my Neño says, an empire was built for the sake of the empire, not an empire for man.
Later there were discoveries of our fantastic Country, such as Sophia, the Lavra, Antony’s Caves, St. Cyril’s Church and many other things that could be called the glorious achievements of our ancestors. These are not pompous words – this is how the truth sounds.
Critical thinking is a very useful thing, so it is quite simple to understand the following – the period of the destruction of all of Ukraine, first by the Russian Empire and especially during the Soviet totalitarian rule, was very long. During this period, the “Russian mir” tried to destroy almost everything Ukrainian, to rewrite history, to appropriate our achievements, examples of this abyss.
And also, on top of that – the forcible imposition of artificial ideas and structures of existence that are unnatural for us, a superior attitude: “Little Russian Khokhly” – we have heard this for a long time from the “title” nation, the desire on their part to impose a complex of inferiority as acquired from childhood vaccination on the left arm for life…
Now to the simple, because the truth is always simple, we have to reclaim ourselves.
We must accept ourselves, study ourselves, respect ourselves and be open to the world, as Ukrainians, our ancestors, have always been.
And this means the following – we have to find and reproduce our historical and architectural heritage, Ukraine that has not yet been discovered by many, with its unique wonders and “conventional” ones – Horyanska Rotunda and Groholsky Palace.
Foreigners were also attracted and fell in love with Ukraine. The geographical component had quite a powerful influence on the cultural heritage of Ukraine. Objects of history and cultural heritage that belong to other countries of the world but are located in Ukraine are also worth restoring and preserving, because we are a part of civilization and share modern world values.
You and I have a great honor and responsibility to recreate our identity and bring back to life the forgotten, secret and unique objects of our cultural heritage.
I am asking from the bottom of my heart – Dear compatriots, join our work, send (below the link) descriptions of objects that you consider valid, which will help you and I better study our unique culture, preserve our heritage and pass it on to posterity.
For our part, we will do everything to find financing and provide comprehensive support for all works, starting with design and ending with the complete reproduction of the object’s uniqueness with the involvement of leading specialists.
Thank you in advance for your concern,
Sincerely,
Your fund “Ukrainian Europe”
