Doctor of Arts

Born in 1967 (Bystry, Volovetska district). He received his art education at the Uzhhorod School of Applied Arts at the “Artistic woodworking” department and at the Lviv Academy of Arts, “Artistic woodworking” department.

Since 1995, he has been a teacher at the Uzhgorod College of Arts named after A. Erdely, 1997 deputy director of the College of Arts named after A. Erdely, in 1998 he entered the postgraduate course of LAM, since 2004 vice-rector for educational, scientific and educational work, and also teaches (History of world art, History of Ukrainian art, History of art in Transcarpathia) at the department of culture and social humanitarian disciplines of Transcarpathian Art institute (now Transcarpathian Academy of Arts). In 2001, he defended his thesis “Decorative carving in the sacred art of Transcarpathia of the 18th-19th centuries. (History. Typology. Artistic and stylistic features)”.

In 2013, he entered the doctoral program of the National Academy of Sciences and teaches professional mastery and design at the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Head of diploma projects. Since 2005, he has been teaching a course of lectures on sacred art at the UzhGKBA. Since 2003, he has been a lecturer at advanced training courses for teachers of fine arts and artistic culture at ZIPPO. Since 2010, a member of the ZO NSHU, Transcarpathian Regional Art and Architecture Council, member of the Art Council of the Mukachevo Greek Catholic Diocese. In 2018, he defended his doctoral dissertation “Professional church painting of Transcarpathia in the second half of the 18th – first half of the 20th centuries: folk tradition, Byzantine canonicity and Western European artistic influences.”

Author of 4 monographs, one co-authored work and about 90 scientific publications. Participant of 4 exhibitions and 4 international plein airs. Laureate (2007; 2018) of the regional prize of Yosyp Bokshay and Adalbetra Erdeli in the field of art history.

At present, he is the head of the department of decorative and applied arts of the Transcarpathian Academy of Arts and the scientific leader of the restoration work process of the Exaltation Cathedral in Uzhgorod, which is being carried out within the framework of the HUSKROUA cross-border cooperation project.
